Siedlce is the main city in the eastern part of the region. Rich cultural and spiritual heritage can be experienced in the diocesan and regional museums. The former one displays the most eminent masterpiece of Spanish art in Poland, El Greco's "The Ecstasy of St. Francis". A statue of Atlas carrying the globe, nicknamed Jack, an informal symbol of the city, emerges from the top of the regional museum tower. The nearby Ogińskis' palace is the seat of Siedlce University.
In the surroundings of the city you can encounter many battlefields from the periods of the November and January Uprisings, and the World War I and II. The well preserved original partisan dugout in the Łuków forests may even become your accommodation place.
30km to the north you can visit Węgrów, which delights visitors with fascinating legends about the most outstanding Polish wizzard - Master Twardowski and in the sacristy of the Basilica Minor on Węgrow market square you can see Twardowski's magic mirror and the nowaday municipal library contains Twardowski's chamber. Węgrów can boasts of Baroque manor Dom Gdanski - a former merchant trading post from the times of greatest prosperity of the town and 18th-Century Manor in Baczki is infamous with celebrations known as "black masses".
6 km far from Wegrow you can visit Liw, well-known for Masovian Dukes Castle. Fifteenth-century castle is famed of knights tournaments, archaeological festivals, dungeons with devils and a legend about the Yellow Lady.
Skibniew near town of Sokolow Podlaski with the "Retro" leisure centre is also advised to visit. It offers traditional Polish cuisine, horseback riding, canoeing, and even Ruska Bania (Russian Dome) - a traditional Russian sauna.
